All writers have creative influences. Name a few novels you’ve read in the past that inspired you both in your creative writing and life.

There were many books that inspired me but the one that recently inspired me was Coming to Our Senses by Jon Kabat-Zinn. The author added the following quote to his doctoral dissertation: “He who dies before he dies does not die when he dies” (Kabat-Zinn, 2005, p. 486).
Kabat-Zinn, J. (2005). Coming to our senses: Healing ourselves and the world through mindfulness. London: Piatkus Books Ltd.

Envy the well grounded depiction! I have to wait a little more to get myself grounded online.
Just one representative book: Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha ( original in German, I read its English translation). Hesse was inspired by his mother’s land, India where she lived 20 years. I admire the theme and its treatment.
don’t you feel that his novels draw too rosy a picture at times?
