Our Values - Abstract

This lesson will outline the abstract of Dr. Alfred Bernhart's book Our Values. It is a high level introduction to the theories housed in each chapter.

1. Values define society's innermost feelings, express people's abilities, hopes and visions.

2. Values arise from human perceptions, - are formulated with influence by all dimensions, yet are expressing the concept of the dominating value of each cultural phase.

3. Values based on the spatial dimensions, having historically guided society, will no longer indicate power and might.

4. Values involving time and money will lose their overpowering influence, will change the objectives of economy, technology, and ethics towards life's enjoyment and a wholesome environment.

5. Values concerned with quality of life, gaining importance, will improve well-being, - will clarify the beginning and end of human life, - will guide responsible procreation, - will extend life expectancy, - will produce and distribute adequate nutrition.

6. Values expressing community in togetherness, will change the educational system to stimulate creative thinking rather than provide mere job-training, - will simplify the English language for worldwide use, - will favor meritocracy over democracy for leadership selection, - will solve disagreements by peaceful means rather than by wars.

7. Values shaped by creative thinking will strengthen knowledge gained by scientific advances with philosophical involvement and spiritual guidance, - to bring a deep understanding of the purpose of creation.

8. Values evolved during the different phases of cultural progress will guide multidimensional thought-structures expressing all seven dimensions of human perception.

9. Values assembled by a long list of creative brains expanded knowledge for the benefit of human well-being from early times until today and beyond.
